I knew that New Bedford runs on Dunkin' and that there are a lot of Dunkin' locations in the city once known for whaling, textiles, and Tavares. But I didn't know the extent of it.

Dunkin' says it has 16 stores in New Bedford. Fall River, too. There are 60 in Boston, 27 in Worcester, and 22 in Springfield. Taunton has only 11 Dunks.

Brockton boasts 14 Dunkin' locations, while Cambridge, Lowell, and East Boston each have 13, Plymouth has 11, and Waltham has only 10. The remaining communities with Dunkin' locations are all in the single digits.

Because we have so many Dunkin' locations in the immediate area, Acushnet (one), Assonet (two), Berkley (two), Dartmouth (six), East Freetown (one), East Wareham (one), Fairhaven (three), Lakeville, Marion, and Mattapoisett (one each), North Dartmouth (three), Somerset (four), Swansea (five), Wareham (four), and Westport (one), we might assume that there is a Dunkin' in every Massachusetts community.

Most Dunk-less communities are in Western Massachusetts, where a new National Park was recently christened, though surprisingly, there are no Dunkin' locations on Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, or in Provincetown, three tourist Meccas.
