New Bedford Seafood Market Captain Frank’s for Sale After 60 Years
Editor's note: While for sale, Captain Frank's remains open for business.
A long-running seafood market in New Bedford went up for sale and the asking price might surprise you.
It's been a landmark as you take the Hathaway Road exit off Route 140. For 60 years, Captain Frank's has been a seafood market with massive lobster tanks, a spot for locals to grab some fresh seafood.
It still is. The only difference is now it's for sale. This prime location right off the highway and with plenty of space for parking is going for $600,000.
Ana Faria is the listing agent from Re/Max Vantage.
"It's unfortunate for the neighbors that would frequent the market as it's been there for over 60 years, but I'm unsure why the current owners decided to put it on the market," she said. "Just know it must have been the right time for them."
Faria said an offer has already been placed on the building and the surrounding land.
It's not surprising that the property wouldn't be on the market long.
It comes equipped with two coolers, a freezer that accommodates 20 pallets, office space, a lobster tank, cook and prep area, retail display area and plenty of parking.
If the current offer goes through, the building will continue to operate as a business, but it's unclear if the new owners would operate the same type of business.
