
Police Investigate Brockton Death After Fight and Hit-and-Run
BROCKTON (WBSM) — The death of a pedestrian this past weekend in Brockton is under investigation.
What Brockton Police Found at the Scene
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced that on March 15 at about 3:55 a.m., Brockton Police on routine patrol saw a man on the ground in the parking lot behind Cardoso Cafe and beside the Royal Fuel gas station at Lincoln Street and West Railroad Avenue.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Brockton Hospital, and then medflighted to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Cruz identified the victim as Lianes Brandao, 28.
Altercation Leads to Fatal Incident
Brockton Police and the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit began investigating. Witness information and video surveillance of the parking lot led investigators to determine that a physical altercation took place involving Brandao and several others. The other people left the scene, and Cruz said shortly thereafter, Brandao was run over by a motor vehicle that then left the scene.

Vehicle Identified, Driver Interviewed
The vehicle was identified as a 2013 gray Jeep Compass, and the driver was later interviewed by Brockton Police about the incident.
Cruz said the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted jurisdiction of the case and will determine the manner and cause of Brandao’s death.
