BROCKTON (WBSM) — An investigation is ongoing into an apparent murder-suicide Wednesday in Brockton of a couple with a reported history of domestic violence.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, Brockton Police received a 911 call from the landlord at 643 North Main Street at about 5:43 p.m. on June 18, stating that his upstairs tenant located his son and girlfriend deceased on the floor of their apartment.

First responders arrived to find the female victim on the floor of the kitchen with multiple gunshot wounds. The D.A.’s Office said the suspect was then located on the floor of the bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a firearm close to him. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The female victim has been identified as Yoraily Santos, 18. The suspect was identified as Starli Roa Taveras, 22.

The D.A.’s Office said the investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were the only two people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

“Investigators learned from witness interviews that Starli and Yoraily had a relationship and a history of domestic violence,” the D.A.’s Office said.
