No cast or directors have been announced yet but the Boston Herald reports that Wahlberg may have a role in the movie himself.

The film will be based on the account of former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Davis was appointed police commissioner in 2006 and announced his retirement in 2013. During the attacks Davis worked with the FBI, Watertown Police, Boston Police, Mass State Police and local responders to gather descriptions and track down the perpetrators.

Other producers for the film include: Scott Stuber, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson and Michael Radutzky. Screenplay is being written by Bridge of the Spies's Matt Charman and Nicholas Nesbitt will be the executive producer.

The announcement came yesterday after the defense rested its case in the trial of former UMass Dartmouth student Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.  Juror deliberations will begin this coming Monday after closing arguments.
