With the Boston Celtics on the verge of their first NBA championship in 16 years, fans don't want to miss a second of the action.

So, what happens when a fan is forced to miss the action?

Jimmy Kimmel dared to find out. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host sent a camera crew to TD Garden for Game 1 to see how long they could distract a Celtics superfan from a Finals game with the Dallas Mavericks.

"We tested every ounce of his patience," Kimmel said.

The crew picked Fred Hogan of Lynn for the "Clock Blockers" prank, probably because in his Finals cap and T-shirt, he looked the part of a diehard.

The film crew, posing as a TD Garden/Celtics hype team, had Hogan film a promo.

"Celtics basketball," Hogan said enthusiastically as someone off-camera tossed a ball at him. "Catch it!"

It wasn't quite perfect. The crew wanted to film it again. And again. And again.

Meanwhile, the clock was ticking down in the fourth quarter.

"Celtics basketball," Hogan said in another take. "You'd be crazy to leave your seat."

By then, the poor guy had been away from his seat for way too long.

Watch the video to see the crazy way things ended for the fan.

The Celtics face the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 on Monday, June 17, at TD Garden. Somebody get Fred Hogan courtside seats.
