September is almost here, but before you let your taste buds start enjoying all things pumpkin this fall grab some of the best fried clams in New England at a beloved SouthCoast restaurant.

As usual summer has gone by in a flash and I find that I never once ate coastal New England classics like clam cakes, lobster rolls or fried clams. Clearly I need to change that fast.

Lucky for me (and anyone else who hasn't enjoyed these local delicacies yet), some of the best fried clams in New England are just a short drive from New Bedford.

Wareham's Lobster Bowl restaurant served the community for 46 years, from 1954 until 2000. In 2001, the 99 Restaurant moved in before opting to go across town in 2016. Having sat empty for six years, the iconic building has been demolished to make way for a new car wash.
