Asian Lantern Spectacular Coming Soon to Roger Williams Park Zoo
I love a good excuse to be in the zoo at night and this spring and summer, Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence is giving us one.
The Asian Lantern Spectacular will light up the zoo with larger-than-life lanterns inspired by the animals from April 15 through July 4.
On a recent visit to the zoo, I got to see the beginnings of this incredible walk-through event that will feature life-sized (or larger) illuminated animals, insects and plants throughout the zoo.
Clearly, the setup still has a way to go, but from the sneak peek I got this is going to be a can't miss, family-friendly zoo event.
My daughters were fascinated by the silk fabric animals without them being lit up yet. So I can only imagine how awe-inspiring it will be when you're walking through the zoo in the dark seeing the animals glowing around you.
Personally, I can't wait. What a great way to spend a warm, spring night with the family. And a great way to get out of the house, too.
Tickets for the Asian Lantern Spectacular are on sale now, though the event doesn't kick off until April 15.
The illuminated zoo walk-throughs will happen Wednesday-Sunday nights from 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. and the event is rain or shine.
Plus along with the over 50 amazing lanterns, the RWP Zoo website says event-goers will get to enjoy "kids interactive lantern area, savory Asian-inspired cuisine and drinks, hand-crafted keepsakes, and more!"
And if that isn't enough to sway you, here's a sneak peek at the silk fabrics animals that will be on display.
