It was a nice spring night Sunday on the SouthCoast, so Allison Arruda decided to end the day with some ice cream at Country Whip in Acushnet.

She took the ride from Fairhaven to the popular ice cream spot in her brand-new, black Volkswagen Tiguan.

Not surprisingly, given the weather, she was not the only person who had the idea.  Parking was a challenge, but her family managed to find a spot in the side lot to the left of the Country Whip building.

The line was predictably long, and when Arruda returned to her car, she found a surprise. She was disappointed to see that someone had side-swiped her vehicle as they pulled out of the parking lot.

LISTEN:  Allison Arruda calls Michael and Maddie

Arruda called Michael and Maddie Monday morning to see if they could help.

"We had the last spot before the street, so the person that was parked next to us wasn't even in a parking spot. They were tucked up onto the sidewalk area."

Arruda said she remembers a white SUV parked next to her, although she doesn't remember the make or model of the vehicle.

"It appears as though they just went forward and took a sharp turn onto the street," she said.

Arruda said she thinks that any damage the other driver might have to their white SUV would have been on the rear passenger side. "I've only had the car for a couple of months," said Arruda.  "Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that they didn't stop and leave a note."

Arruda said she hopes the person will come forward or that someone may have seen the incident. The damage occurred sometime between 5 and 6 p.m., Arruda said.

While Country Whip has cameras, the business did not pick up that portion of the parking lot.
