Super Bowl LIII will be here before we know it, and I have a bit of an issue with my son's new obsession with the Rams.

It started back when he asked for a Todd Gurley football jersey for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I admire that he has his own opinions, likes and dislikes when it comes to athletes and sports teams. He's like his dad in that way. I just never thought I'd see the day when he would choose another football player or team over our beloved New England Patriots.

I may be overly emotional about all this, but I remember him being five weeks old wearing his first Brady onesie. My husband went to the Super Bowl in 2004 when the Patriots played and beat the Panthers in Houston. He brought home with him the cutest Brady baby onesie. And since then, both of my sons have grown up as Patriots fans, like us.

Since the Pats won the AFC championship game this past Sunday night, it's been the running joke in our house that I am not going to "allow" Josh to wear his Rams Todd Gurley jersey when we watch the Super Bowl in two weeks. That if he wants to remain in this family, he'd better be cheering for the Patriots while proudly wearing his Brady jersey for the biggest game of the year.

All kidding aside, I hope he'll be rooting for the Pats with us, but I admire that he has his own "new" favorite players and dare I say, football team. It pains me but I'll be ok, I think.
