If you have a dog and you think you’d like to socialize he or she with other dogs at this proposed dog park, you will want to partake in this meeting.

April 5th, Pressley Associates who have designed this dog park, are holding a public meeting at Buttonwood Park Community Center at 6pm.

According to The Standard Times, the proposed dog park will have an area enclosed where all dogs can play together and socialize without their leashes. And as long as the dogs participating at the dog park are neutered, licensed and up to date with all of their vaccinations, dog owners will receive a swipe card to access the park with their pooch.

In addition, there will be two play areas; one for large dogs and the other for smaller breeds.  The dog park will be located on Hathaway Boulevard between Greenwood and Ruggles Streets in New Bedford.

The dog park project has been in the works for a while now with a lot of thought having gone into it’s design. It will feature a dog water station, shade trees to protect from the heat of the sun, seating area, trash and recycling receptacles and onsite parking with a walkway to the park.

It sounds as if a lot of thought and great ideas have gone into this project.  There will be lots of happy pups once it opens, that's for sure.  A happy dog means a happy master...woof!
