It’s almost time for my favorite season, and I’m not talking about the weather. I’m talking baseball, and this year is special for the new Worcester Red Sox, who will be playing their very first season at their new stadium, Polar Park.

It’s the best time of the year when baseball and softball organizations start to announce the upcoming start of their season. Going to baseball games is one of my favorite things to do in the spring and summer. There’s just something about the atmosphere of a baseball stadium that gives me a warm embrace of nostalgia and excitement.

I always make a point to visit Fenway Park, but it’s nice having the Boston Red Sox Triple-A franchise not too far as well. The former McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island is home to very dear memories of mine, from throwing out the first pitch as a mascot to being a patron and eating way too many hot dogs. I was sad to hear the end of the PawSox and McCoy Stadium, but I’m sure that Polar Park, the new stadium for the WooSox, will usher in memorable moments during their first season in Worcester.

According to the website, the Worcester Red Sox will begin their 2021 season on April 6 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The team's home opener will be on Tuesday, April 13 against Lehigh Valley. This is going to be their first game in almost 600 days due to the pandemic, and I’m sure they are eager to get on the field.

The team's promotions and special events schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
