It was a beautiful day yesterday for Mother's Day and the annual Women's Fund Tiara 5k walk/run in Mattapoisett. The race began at Oxford Creamery featured a kid's fun run and an adult run. The kid's run kicked off around 9:00 followed by the main event 9:30 a.m. Miss New Bedford 2014, Jillian Zucco, was a participant in the race and kicked it off with a beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner (yes, she did wear her tiara).

Within minutes we had a winner! The top finisher of the day, Matt Sylvain of Dartmouth, finished the race with a time of 18:41.

Male 2nd and 3rd place winners were 13 year old Adam Sylvia of Rochester and Matthew Howard of Swansea. Stephanie Witkin of New York City placed first for the ladies with a time of 21:17.

Great job to everyone who participated, volunteered, came to support the runners yesterday. This is always a huge success for the Women's Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts. Last year's race raised over $40,000 and this year there was an even bigger turn out
