Looking for fun (and free) family events this holiday season? Well Roger Williams Park in Providence has added one you won't want to miss.

Mark your calendar for Saturday December 7th when the Winter Wonderland opens throughout Providence's biggest park with lots of different activities from Noon - 4 P.M.

Literally everywhere you go inside Roger Williams Park on December 7th, you'll find something festive and free to enjoy with the entire family.

Here's what to expect...

This first ever Winter Wonderland will fill acres of Roger Williams Park with holiday light displays, festive trees a 2,000 poinsettia display and more.

The entire event kicks off at 12 noon, with something for Christmas fans off all ages to enjoy throughout the park.

Roger Williams Park Carousel Village

Here kids can ride the carousel or train, but also enjoy hayrides, snacks and hot chocolate up until 4 P.M.

Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

Not only will the usual indoor plants to blooming, but a holiday train display will be set up here as well. Families can also wander through thousands of poinsettias and take part in a holiday tree scavenger hunt.

Roger Williams Casino

This historic building will be filled with ornament crafts along with cocoa and coffee from 12 noon- 4 P.M., plus a winter clothing giveaway will take place here during the event.

Event organizers are already collecting new and gently used coats, boots, hats and gloves for those in need and you can donate them at the Gateway Center, Natural History Museum, Botanical Center or Roger Williams Park Zoo until December 7th.

Gateway Center

Just next to the Broad Street entrance to the park  is where you'll be able to meet Santa Claus during the Winter Wonderland and kids can let the big guy know what the want for Christmas.

There will also be an enchanted walk though light display and a hot chocolate station for warming up, all from 12 noon- 4 P.M.

Museum of Natural History and Planetarium

During the Winter Wonderland event, the Natural History Museum will offer free admission. It will also be a spot for winter crafts and activities for the kids.

At 1 P.M. and 2 P.M. there will be winter sky planetarium shows, though these will require you to buy tickets online before attending.

That is the only cost to this entire day at Roger Williams Park, that all ends with a tree lighting at the bandstand at 4:30 P.M.

A tree was needed for the first-ever tree lighting at the annual Christmas event in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Community members came together to design a nautical tree worthy of its coastal destination. This buoy tree in Padanaram Village will be the centerpiece of the Holiday Festival.
