Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Let's talk animals.

There are hundreds of animals on the SouthCoast living in shelters and waiting for a place to call home. With the help of local shelters, we shine a light on these animals every week in hopes of uniting them with a loving family.

This week, we head to New Bedford where an adorable pup is hoping to steal your heart.

Meet Maisie. Maisie is a 5-year-old, 56-pound boxer-staffie currently residing at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford.

Maisie may be big but she is convinced that she is a pint-sized lap dog.

"Maisie is the snuggliest, sweetest lovebug you'll ever meet," said Lighthouse. "Maisie is an overgrown lap dog who will happily melt into a big, cuddly puddle as soon as you sit down."

Maisie is all about showing affection, so be prepared for slobbery kisses. She is a big fan of belly rubs, cuddles, and hanging out with her people.

"Maisie is more of a people pup than a play pup, so she would rather be getting head pats than chasing after a toy," said the shelter.

Maisie is great on the leash, eager to please, and incredibly loyal. She would bring joy to any home.

Does Maisie sound like a good fit for you and your family? Contact Lighthouse Animal Shelter online and schedule a play date asap.

Maisie cannot wait to meet you.
