Westport’s Friday Night Adult Pick-Up Basketball Is Back
Growing up in Westport, I loved playing basketball, whether it was shooting around with neighborhood kids or competing in school sports. Being tall, it quickly became my sport of choice.
From my early days at the skate park on Sanford Road to traveling up to TD Garden in Boston for the 2005 State Championships, basketball has always been in my blood. Now that I’m older, finding the time – or even enough people – to play with feels nearly impossible.
Thankfully, there's a solution to my much-missed glory days.

Basketball lovers, this one's for you. Every Friday night in Westport, Adult Pick-Up Basketball gives players 18 and older a chance to hit the court, break a sweat and enjoy some friendly competition. It’s a great way to stay active, and best of all, meet new people who share the same love for the game.
Games take place at the Town Hall Annex Gym (856 Main Road, Westport) from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Players should park in the back lot and enter through the gym’s rear door.
The cost is just $5 per night, payable in exact cash at the door (no ATM on-site, so come prepared). While registration is free, signing up online adds you to the attendance list for easy updates.
Games are self-monitored, but volunteer supervisor Jeramy Packard will be on hand to help keep things running smoothly. To save you a wasted trip, he’ll notify players via text if a session is ever canceled.
So grab your A-game – and a water bottle – and hit the court this Friday night.
