We’re Happy as Clams, Thanks to Your Suggestion for National Fried Clam Day [VIDEO]

As we told you about earlier, today is National Fried Clam Day. Between asking for your best suggestions Tuesday on our Facebook page and writing up the results this morning, all we could think about was sinking our teeth into some delicious whole-bellied fried clams.

According to our scientifically inaccurate but still entertaining poll, the clear winner was Gene's Famous Seafood in Fairhaven, although a number of other places put up a shell of a fight.

Rumbling stomachs could be heard echoing throughout the halls of Fun 107 as we continued to tally up the results, and once lunch time rolled around, we figured we had to take the SouthCoast's suggestion and celebrate National Fried Clam Day with some lunch from Gene's.

We also wanted to give them the good news that they were far and away the top choice, and see if there was a line of other SouthCoasters anxiously awaiting a big pile of golden-fried goodness to honor the day.

We were a little surprised to find out, though, that as much as fried clams are a "thing" around the region, National Fried Clam Day apparently hasn't quite caught on yet.
