WaterFire Providence Returns for a Rare October Lighting
There's nothing quite like WaterFire Providence. The crackle of the flames, the smell of the fire, the warmth off the basin all add to the ambiance in the Creative Capital.
Typically a summertime favorite, WaterFire Providence has been known to have an occasional post-season lighting.
From honoring Veterans Day to ringing in the Christmas season, a select few lightings have taken place in the fall and winter.

On Tuesday, October 21, the city of Providence will once again light up as the team from WaterFire feeds the flames of the basin.
Unlike a traditional WaterFire, only the braziers in the basin will be lit. This refers to the circular formation on the Providence River.

Why Now?
What's so special about October 21, you ask? It's a way to show off a unique offering for which Rhode Island is known.
Providence is currently hosting the 2025 Shop! Ideation and IRDC conferences, a time where suppliers, designers, retail professionals and more gather to collaborate, build and educate.
"We wanted the event attendees to experience the very best of Providence, and there’s no experience more iconic or more reflective of the city’s creative spirit than WaterFire,” said Jeff Hastings, Chief Strategist of Rose Displays.
Lighting Details
The Tuesday basin lighting begins with a torch procession fashion show featuring three different designers, performances by Cirque De Light and food available for purchase.
Fires will be lit at 8 p.m. and will burn until 10 p.m.
