Wareham Restaurant Honors Late Regular With Memorial Booth
One of the best parts of Restaurant Week is discovering the stories behind the businesses we visit. On Wednesday morning, The MGM Show was treated like royalty at Persy’s Place in Wareham, only to learn we were in the presence of a queen.
For more than 15 years, Persy’s Place was a second home to Eleanor Dors of Onset. Now, even after her passing, her legacy lives on at the restaurant she loved so much.
A longtime regular, Eleanor and her husband, who were together for 62 years, traveled the country but always returned to their favorite local breakfast spot. She was a staple at Persy’s, dining there up to five times a week and becoming a signature member of the Persy's staff and family.

To honor her memory, Persy’s Place has dedicated a special booth in her name: "The Queen’s Table." A poster created by one of the managers sit above the table and reads, “Mrs. Eleanor Dors, a Persy's Place regular for over 15 years… They are our Queen & King of Persy's Place!”
“She really embodied what it means to be family, not just as an employee, but also as customers as well,” said manager Kaliana Baptista, who had the privilege of serving Eleanor for years.
Eleanor had her traditions at Persy’s.
Every Sunday, she’d order a McPorky sandwich with a specific twist: a ham, egg and Swiss cheese on a bagel with an over-easy egg, always requesting extra napkins to keep things tidy. She never came on Saturdays, and if she accidentally did, she’d call it an “oopsie” moment.
Her original booth was where she and her husband used to sit, but after he passed, she preferred to move to a different spot. That seat is now "The Queen’s Table," marked by a canvas painting created by Baptista, showcasing Eleanor’s love for travel, family and Disney.
“She was my favorite,” Baptista said. “If it was a slow morning, we’d sit there and gab for an hour and a half. I miss her so much.”
More than just a restaurant, Persy’s Place became a family to Eleanor. When her health declined, her loved ones kept the staff updated, and Baptista even visited her at home, bringing her favorite marinated mushrooms.
Dors passed away in October 2024, but the Queen’s Table ensures that anyone who dines at Persy’s Place will know her story, keeping her memory alive in the place she cherished most.
