I spent the day at Water Wizz in Wareham, where the sun was shining, the food hit the spot and the water was about as refreshing as it gets. Coming off the weekend, though, I wasn't exactly in daredevil mode. In fact, as Bruno Mars once sang, "Today I don't feel like doing anything," and that became the unofficial theme of my visit.

Normally, a trip to Water Wizz brings out my adventurous side. I try to squeeze in as many water slides as humanly possible, racing from one attraction to the next without slowing down. This time, however, I decided to see if the park could be enjoyed from a completely different perspective.

That's when I teamed up with Indiana "Indie" Troupe, one of many friendly managers at Water Wizz, who happily showed me some of the best places to kick back, unwind and embrace the art of doing absolutely nothing.

Skip the Spills and Thrills, Choose the Naps and Snacks

While plenty of guests spend the day chasing spills and thrills on attractions like Pipeline Plunge and Devil's Peak, I took the "naps and snacks" approach instead. It also reminded me that for parents, Water Wizz doesn't always have to mean standing in long lines or constantly being on the move. If your kids are old enough to tackle the slides on their own or with friends, you can actually carve out a little vacation for yourself while they're busy making memories.

My Surprisingly Perfect Lazy-Day Itinerary

I lounged in one of the Platinum Cabanas, stretched out for a quick cat nap in the oversized Adirondack chair, floated on a giant lily pad, relaxed in the lagoon, cooled off in the wave pool and, best of all, drifted away on the Lazy River, where every lap somehow melted away a little more stress. It was the kind of afternoon that reminded me slowing down can be just as rewarding as chasing the next adrenaline rush.

Sometimes the Best Plan Is No Plan

The beauty of Water Wizz is that there's no right way to spend the day. You can sprint from slide to slide until the park closes, or you can find a shady spot, grab a bite to eat and recharge while everyone else does the running around.
