Wareham’s Joshua Onujiogu Back With the Seattle Seahawks
Wareham native Joshua Onujiogu is back with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
Onujiogu cleared waivers on Friday and joined the Seahawks’ practice squad.
The undrafted rookie free agent out of Framingham State had previously signed with the Seahawks in May. After initially making Seattle’s 53-man roster ahead of the NFL-mandated cutdown last week, he was waived hours before the deadline as the Seahawks sought to make room for two new acquisitions.
He was brought back to the practice squad on Friday along with former New York Jets defensive end Jabari Zuniga, rounding out the Seahawks' 17-man practice squad roster.
Onujiogu, a 6-2, 252-pound edge rusher and 2016 Wareham High graduate, appeared in all three preseason games for the Seahawks, recording eight tackles and a sack.
