United Way of Greater New Bedford hosts the Power of the Purse event every year. Women all over the SouthCoast always look forward to this ladies’ night out. The COVID-19 coronavirus has forced the Women United team to get a little creative with this year’s event, but you better believe that this fundraiser is still happening.

The Virtual Power of the Purse event will take place on Thursday, April 30 from 7:30 to 9 pm. This exclusive "girl’s night in" supports the Help United, Greater New Bedford COVID-19 Response Fund. According to a press release from United Way, area residents are already feeling the impact of COVID-19, but United Way is stepping in to help with complete support from the City of New Bedford. "The fund will provide cash assistance to out of work service workers and retired or out of work seniors over 65 in the Greater New Bedford area."

Here's what you can expect from the Virtual Power of the Purse event:

  • A makeup tutorial by I AM GLAM makeup artist Ashley Maclean
  • At-home skincare tips from Avalon Medical Spa
  • Live purse painting with Rox Art
  • Craft cocktail demonstrations
  • Entertainment by Rebecca Correia
  • Exciting giveaways
  • Luxury handbag auction.
  • An after-party with B-Sharp Entertainment
