Meeting Megan Keller Before She Won Olympic Gold

U.S. Women's Hockey has done it again, taking home the gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The USA-Canada rivalry was on center stage on Thursday, February 19 for the gold medal game, which went into overtime.

Megan Keller: From Boston Fleet to Olympic Hero

That's when Team USA's Megan Keller scored the game-winning goal with a brilliant move against the defense, giving the Americans the 2-1 victory.

I had the honor of meeting the highly-decorated Keller a while back. It’s an interaction I remember fondly.

For those unfamiliar, I also work for the Boston Bruins as their In-Arena Host, hyping up the crowd, playing games with contestants and hosting various events throughout the year.

One of these events is Fan Fest, an outdoor summer event that brings fun and famous faces to various cities and towns throughout New England in an effort to get fans excited for the Bruins season ahead.

On August 24, 2024, Fan Fest set up on the campus of UMass Lowell, just outside Tsongas Arena, home of the PWHL's Boston Fleet.

Keller, the captain of the Boston Fleet, was in attendance, meeting fans, signing autographs and taking pictures.

My Favorite Moment With Keller

I was able to interview Keller who spoke about her love of the sport and the area. Prior to her time with the Fleet, Keller played for Boston College.

I knew the moment was a special one. At the time, the PWHL had just wrapped up its inaugural season, a huge moment for women in sports and an inspiration to young girls everywhere.

Who knew less than two years later I'd be writing about the woman who clinched gold for Team USA?

Keller and the Boston Fleet will face off against the Montreal Victoire on Saturday, April 11 at TD Garden. At last check, only two tickets remained on Ticketmaster.
