One of the most legendary trophies in all of sports was recently in the area.

The Stanley Cup, pro hockey's coveted trophy, spent time on Martha's Vineyard, shocking fans and surprising locals as Lord Stanley made the rounds.

As the In-Arena Host for the Boston Bruins for the past decade, I've been able to see the famous NHL cup up close (though never had the opportunity to hoist it into the air) and let me tell you, it's quite a sight. Covered in names of hockey legends, it's one of the most recognizable trophies out there.

Morning Glory Farm Host Lord Stanley's Unexpected Stop

The crew at Morning Glory Farm got the thrill of a lifetime when the coveted trophy made an unexpected stop on their lawn. Their former co-worker Karen Sosa was the one who made it happen.

"Her husband is the general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, and for a moment in time, hockey's most famous trophy sat right here in our front lawn, the cup itself filled with our island corn, and surrounded by the faces who make this farm what it is," the Edgartown farm shared.

The Hurricanes clinched the cup on June 14, 2026, and it has been making the rounds with players, coaches and personnel ever since.

"Karen, thank you for thinking of us and for bringing this piece of hockey history home to the farm. We're so grateful for everything you gave us decades ago, and for this today," they added.

Brownies, Bakeries, and Ice Arenas: The Cup Tours Edgartown

Lord Stanley also enjoyed some sweet treats at a local cafe. Soigne on Upper Main Street in Edgartown welcomed Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky. He had some fun stuffing the cup full of Soigne's delicious brownies.

From food to fun, the Stanley Cup brought smiles to faces young and old as it toured the vineyard, even stopping at the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena. "We’re so grateful to have been part of such a memorable weekend," they said.

What a treat. However, it'd be so much sweeter if the cup was making the rounds after a big Bruins win. Fingers crossed.
