Two new fictional works will center around Lizzie Borden to mark the 123rd anniversary of the unsolved murders on August 4.

According to Wicked Local Fall River, these two new books, “The Minuscule Monk: A Lizzie Borden Girl Detective Mystery” by Richard Behrens, and “By the Naked Pear Tree: the Trial of Lizzie Borden — a Play in Verse” by Michael Thomas Brimbaugh, are hitting store shelves.

The two authors will each be holding a book-signing this weekend.

The softcover book by Behrens is 236 pages long. It is available on Amazon.com for $14.95 and in an electronic version for $3.99.

A book-signing and reading will take place by Behrens on Saturday from noon to 3pm at the Fall River Historical Society Museum Shop at 451 Rock Street.

Brimbaugh’s book has a unique take on the Lizzie Borden trial that started outside a courthouse in New Bedford.

His book is written in the style of a play and about 75 to 80 percent of the book is poetry.

Those who read “By the Naked Pear Tree: the Trial of Lizzie Borden — a Play in Verse,” will find out that there are other twists in the book besides rhyming. Lizzie will be found guilty of murdering her father and stepmother. Also, whoever wins the card game will decide Lizzie’s fate.

The book is softcover and is 144 pages. It is available on Amazon.com for $12.

A book-signing will be held by Brimbaugh on Sunday from noon to 3pm at the Fall River Historical Society Museum Shop at 451 Rock Street.
