Dolly Parton’s Free Book Program Expands to Middleboro
The town of Middleboro just received some exciting news.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Comes to Town
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is coming to the community, providing free books to children from birth to age five.
For over 30 years, Parton has been providing free children's books to communities all across the country and around the world.
The Inspiration Behind the Program
“When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams.
They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer.
The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.” - Dolly Parton
The children are just part of the inspiration behind the Imagination Library. Parton's father grew up with the inability to read or write, something she is hoping to combat with her free book program.

A Global Effort to Promote Literacy
Since the program began in 1995, millions of books have been provided to young children around the world including the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland.
Middleboro is now the 11th community in Massachusetts to be part of the Imagination Library.
How to Sign Up for Free Books
The program is available to residents in Middleboro.
More information on how your child can benefit from the Imagination Library can be found at the Peter H. Peirce Homestead, a program of the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library.
