Raise a barbell today on National Women’s Health and Fitness Day.

Health is important for every man and woman, but I have been particularly passionate about fitness for women of all ages.

The National Day Calendar describes this holiday as a day where “women of all fitness levels encourage each other to begin or continue a healthy journey.”

This is me encouraging any woman reading this that may have been nervous to start their fitness journey to take that first step today. It’s all about small victories each day making a giant impact over time, but you have to start somewhere.

I was scared to commit. In my late teens and early 20s, I was in bad shape, emotionally and physically. I knew I had to make a change, but the thought of starting at square one was daunting and scary. Luckily, I had strong women in my life to push me to get started, which led me to my amateur career in Muay Thai kickboxing. I am proud to say that this outlet has brought me so much mental clarity and overall physical health. The positive results have certainly seeped into other areas of my life, improving my overall quality of life.

Now, I’m not saying you have to become a kickboxer to improve your own life. I’m saying that fitness will greatly improve your self-confidence, and who doesn’t want that?

Don’t know where to start? Try this at-home workout I’ve put together below to get your body and mind moving. No equipment required!
