High winds, rip currents, storm surge and flooding rain are expected for the beginning of the week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Southcoast and say we could start feeling the affects of Hermine as early as Sunday afternoon.

Residents should expect heavy winds ranging from 58 to 73 mph (anything over 74 is considered a hurricane) and say the wind will likely be around for days since Hermine is expected to stall just south of New England.

NOAA also expects heavy rains Sunday night and throughout Monday into Tuesday, which could lead to coastal and street flooding on the Southcoast. We could also see storm surges from 1-3 feet Sunday night during high tide.

The National Weather Service is advising home and business owners to check their emergency plans and stock up on supplies now. They urge people to take any precautions necessary to protect life and property.

New Bedford does have a hurricane plan that can help residents plan for the storm
