An emotional day at Fenway Park today as the Red Sox got ready to welcome the Texas Rangers for a three-game series. Players had the opportunity to share their feelings in a team meeting in the clubhouse before the game. Manager Alex Cora got choked up speaking to the press before the game. There was definitely a cloud of worry hanging over Fenway Park, the center field scoreboard wishing Big Papi well as he is flying back to Boston, set to be admitted into Mass General after spending the past 24 hours in a Dominican intensive care unit.

It goes without saying that Big Papi is without a doubt one of the most iconic sports figures in Boston history. He's right there on the Mount Rushmore of Massachusetts. Brady. Bird. Orr. Williams. Ortiz. He's been there for some of the most memorable moments of my life. It got us thinking about some of Papi's biggest.

1.  2004 American League Championship Series.  Game 4.

The Red Sox and Yankees kept America awake until nearly 1:30 in the morning.  That's when Big Papi had enough.

2.  "This is our...city"

He stood up for Boston at a moment when we were at our lowest.

3.  2013 American League Championship Series.  Game 2.

Boston trailed the Tigers by 4 in the Bottom of the 8th.  They were facing a trip to Detroit down two games to none.  Then, Papi changed the momentum for the entire series.

4.  2004 American League Division Series.  Game 3.

Big Papi sends the Angels home heartbroken and the Red Sox to the American League Championship Series.

5.  2004 American League Championship Series.  Game 5.

Papi ends a nearly 6 hour long, 14 inning epic battle setting up Joe Buck's classic quote, "Damon, running to the plate.  And he can keep on running to New York.  Game 6 tomorrow night!"
