2023 has been a slightly odd year for pop music.

Many of the artists we know and love were talked about more for their personal lives than their music, the comebacks we thought would be huge fizzled out quickly and songs recorded years ago were the ones topping the charts.

Yet in all of the oddness, there were some huge hits and these were the ones most played on Fun 107.

Not too terribly surprising, most of the songs that were played the most during the year were the ones released earliest in the year. In fact the first song to crack our station's top ten for the year actually dropped in the fall of 2022.

#10 - Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras

This Grammy winning track made Petras the first openly transgender artist to win a major-category Grammy Award and tied Smith with Oasis and the Rolling Stones on the list of artists with the most number-one singles in the UK.

#9 - Dance the Night by Dua Lipa

One of the many chart toppers from the Barbie Movie soundtrack, "Dance the Night" was the first song from the film to be released. The movie also marked Dua's first time on the big screen with her appearance as a mermaid Barbie.

#8 - Sure Thing by Miguel

This 2023 chart topper was actually recorded over a decade ago. Originally on Miguel's 2010 debut album All I Want Is You, it became a huge hit this past year after a resurgence on TikTok.

#7 - Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift

Another years old song, "Cruel Summer" came from Swift's 2019 album Lover. Presumably the summer's massive Eras Tour helped bring this summer-y song back to the charts.

#6 - I'm Good - by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha

Though the track officially dropped in late 2022, it was something Guetta and Rexha had been working on since 2017 with no real plans to release it. After a snippet appeared on TikTok however, the pair hopped in the studio to finalize the song and it became their biggest hit together.

#5 - Kill Bill by SZA

A song inspired by and named after the Quentin Tarantino films, "Kill Bill" was SZA's biggest hit of the year and her very first number one song.

#4 - Die For You - The Weeknd

Yet another years old song making a biggest splash this past year, "Die For You" was originally released in 2016 but thanks to TikTok found larger chart success in 2023.

#3 - Creepin' by Metro Boomin, 21 Savage and The Weeknd

Though "Creepin'" is technically a new song from the past year, it is also deep in remakes and samples. The song is a remake of "I Don't Wanna Know" by Mario Winans featuring Enya and P. Diddy, which is based on a sample of the Fugees' song "Ready or Not", and itself samples Enya's "Boadicea".

#2 - Flowers by Miley Cyrus

Cyrus definitely dominated the beginning of 2023. She had a massive New Year's Eve special on NBC, dropped the hugely successful Endless Summer Vacation in March and dominated the charts with "Flowers" for the first half of 2023.

There was only one song more dominant than "Flowers" on Fun 107 this past year. Keep scrolling through our time machine of massive Fun 107 hits to find out what it was.
