Red Sox fans and baseball lovers alike have a rare chance to meet a true Boston sports legend (before he signed with the New York Yankees, of course).

Johnny Damon, the electrifying outfielder who helped break the "Curse of the Bambino," is heading to Swansea for a special evening at the One SouthCoast Chamber’s Celebrity Scholarship Dinner.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 20 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Venus de Milo for a chance to dine with Damon, hear stories from his storied career, and even get to meet the baseball legend.

Damon, a two-time World Series champion, played 18 seasons in MLB, but he’s best remembered in New England for his crucial role in the Red Sox’ historic 2004 title run. From his signature long hair and beard to his clutch performances, Damon became a fan favorite as Boston broke its 86-year championship drought.

“The Chamber is beyond excited to host this incredible evening with Red Sox legend Johnny Damon," One SouthCoast Chamber Vice President of Marketing and Events, Katie Green said.

"Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or not, almost every New Englander was cheering in 2004. I still remember exactly where I was during that historic moment; you never forget," she said. "To have Johnny here, sharing his story with the crowd 20 years later, will be truly unforgettable.”

Beyond the baseball talk, the night has a bigger purpose: supporting local students. Damon will help present scholarships to deserving recipients as part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to education. The evening will also feature a silent auction with exclusive autographed memorabilia.

Tickets for this one-of-a-kind event are $150 per person, or $1,500 for a table of 10. With major sponsors like the Stoico/Firstfed Charitable Foundation, St. Anne’s Credit Union, and BayCoast Bank backing the event, it’s shaping up to be a night to remember.

Don’t miss this chance to meet a Red Sox legend and support the next generation of SouthCoast scholars. For tickets and more information, visit onesouthcoast.com/celebritydinner.
