Taunton Author Turns Grief Into Healing With Bold New Book
Taunton's Jen Hoye has taken her grief and penned an extremely raw book that is gaining traction and helping countless people around the country.
Grief is an emotion no one can escape. Whether it's a relationship gone bad or the loss of a loved one, your entire world gets flipped upside down when you experience grief. Back in 2017, Hoye experienced the loss of her brother Teddy to suicide.
It wasn't until 2020 when she felt she actually began the process of grieving, and what turned into the beginning of writing her eye-opening raw book Thick Thighs, Tattoos, and Breaking Taboos.
Hoye, who grew up in Everett but moved to Taunton in the late '90s, has been a writer her entire life. She finds that writing has also helped her, along with advocacy around mental health initiatives, to process the loss of her brother.
Since September is Suicide Prevention Month, Hoye is organizing and planning on getting out to events in the area to not only advocate for mental health but share her story and book with more people.

The book holds raw emotions and even some of our local SouthCoast sarcasm. Hoye shared how running was one of the few things she found helped with her mental health.
"This is, in no way a self-help book," she said, but in sharing her story she does hope to help others that are challenged with grief.
You can get a copy of the book just about anywhere but Hoye hopes you will support some of our local businesses that currently carry copies such as Gathering Grounds in Fall River, Serendipity Bookshop in Taunton, and Annie's Book Stop in Raynham.
The ebook is actually free to Kindle Unlimited users.
Be sure to check out more on Jen Hoye when you get a minute. She is truly an amazing local woman taking her pain and using it to do what she can to help others.
