Here's a rundown of the first babies born in Fall River, New Bedford and Wareham in 2019.

Ladies first, so we'll start with Fall River's first baby girl of the year. Khaya Amari Alves was born at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River at 12:59 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1. Khaya is the third child for Melissa and Kelvin Alves, both of Fall River. Baby Khaya weighed in at eight pounds, eight ounces, and measured 20 inches.

New Bedford's first 2019 baby was Ethan Oliver Soares, born at 1:31 a.m. on New Year's Day. Chrissie and Jason Soares of New Bedford gave birth to their son at St. Luke’s Hospital. Ethan weighed nine pounds, four ounces, and measured 22 inches. Ethan is the couple’s third child.

Wareham welcomed its first baby of 2019 at Tobey Hospital this morning at 5:03 a.m. New Bedford’s Alexia Orphanides and Brett Pacheco welcomed a son, Lucas Alexander Pacheco, who weighed seven pounds, two ounces, and measured 20 inches. Lucas is the couple’s second child.

All three families received a $100 gift card from Target and a plush toy donated by the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial, St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, and the Tobey Hospital Guild. The families also received a gift bag donated by the Gleason Family Y in Wareham including a one-year family membership, a baby swim class, a onesie, a t-shirt, and a travel bag.
