It sounds silly, but while my daughter and I are riding in the car, we'll often play a game called "Pretend We're Not From Around Here."

The game is pretty simple. As we're driving past homes and beaches, farms and cranberry bogs, restaurants and ice cream stands, we try to imagine the familiar scenes in our neighborhoods through the eyes of a tourist.

It's a great way to appreciate the raw beauty that we all too often take for granted as residents of the SouthCoast. The next time you drive over the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge, give it a try. Look at all of the majestic fishing vessels resting for their next trek out into the ocean. The boats are as photogenic under the bright lights at night as they are during the day, and most of us barely give them a look as we speed by in our cars, taking them for granted the way people from Nebraska take cornfields for granted.

With this in mind, I thought it might be fun to take a look at Airbnb as if we were out-of-town tourists looking to get away from it all with a week (or weekend) here on the SouthCoast. Heck, you might recognize some of the spots and try to negotiate a better "offline" deal with the owners.

Interestingly enough, the SouthCoast experience isn't exactly cheap. Most of these waterfront homes come with a hefty price tag.

From Marion, Wareham, and Bourne out to Westport, here are some of the swankiest places we found listed on Airbnb. Did we miss any?
