We Asked Locals Which SouthCoast Restaurants Have the Best Bread and Dipping Sauce
This morning on the MGM Show, we were talking about a new list of America's new favorite smells. The brand new study just dropped which ranks the 30 most beloved smells in the country. We, of course, had some thoughts and some strong opinions about one particular item that failed to make the list..
America's Top 5 Smells of 2026
According to the 2026 Smell Study, lavender came in at number one, with 85.6 percent of people around the world naming it their favorite scent. Vanilla was a close second, followed by freshly brewed coffee at number three.
What Did Not Make the List
Bacon did not crack the top 30, which felt like an oversight, but even more shocking was the omission of fresh baked bread. Who conducted this study? We'd like a word.
The Great Bread Debate
The omission of bread from the list sent the conversation in a delicious direction. Everyone agreed that warm bread straight out of the oven is one of life's greatest pleasures. I don't normally love chain restaurants, but Texas Roadhouse rolls with cinnamon butter is honestly one of life's great pleasures. When I'm eating those on repeat I couldn't care less that I'm ruining my dinner.
Which SouthCoast Restaurant Has the Best Bread?
Alianca earned a shoutout from the show for its bread paired with the creamy Mozambique sauce. Old Grist Mill Tavern got some well deserved love for its freshly baked cinnamon loaves served with butter. Novo Mundo was singled out for its crusty on the outside, pillow soft on the inside loaves that arrive at your table by the full loaf.
