Cheers With SouthCoast Brews on Beer Can Appreciation Day
Rihanna said it best: "Cheers to the freakin weekend...I'll drink to that!"
There's a national day for just about everything and today, Friday, January 24 is National Beer Can Appreciation Day.
Many will be hitting up a local watering hole or heading to the packie/liquor store/(whatever you call it) to pick up a six-pack.

Whether it's a hoppy IPA, creamy stout, crisp pilsner, golden pale ale, or whatever's on tap that night, you can find something brewed here on the SouthCoast.
Craft beer (as we know it today) dates back to the 1960s, but the rich history goes back much further. The first craft brewery in Pennsylvania was established in 1829 and it's still around today. D.G. Yuengling & Son is the oldest operating brewing company in the U.S.
Massachusetts opened its first craft brewery, Boston Beer Co., in 1984 while Rhode Island's Union Station Brewing opened its doors in 1993.
By 1985, 100 breweries were open in the United States. That's nothing compared to the 9,000-10,000 today. During the 2010s there was quite a boom of breweries. Many came and went, but there's still plenty that are thriving on the SouthCoast.
So let's raise a glass to these local beer businesses where you can grab a cold one.
