Scholarship hunting is an underutilized skill in the world of college bound seniors.  If you know a senior in high school, this might be a page that you want to share with them.  If could save them a good chunk of money as they head off to college.

There are likely more scholarships available to college bound students that they even know exist.  We're not talking about scholarships from national brands like Coke or McDonald's.  We're talking about scholarship money that has been earmarked for use by SouthCoast students only.  In other words, if your family doesn't live here on the SouthCoast, you are not eligible to win this scholarship.

The caretaker or this scholarship money is the SouthCoast Community Foundation.  The best part of this is that it is one stop shopping for dozens of scholarships for which you may be eligible.  Here are just a few of the types of scholarships that are being offered:

  • LGBTQ+ students
  • Cape Verdean students
  • Engineering students
  • Medical and nursing students
  • Student-athletes
  • Trade school students
  • Many more

If you have interest in applying for some of this $700,000 that can help you pay for college, simply start by signing up on the scholarship application portal.  All you'll need to do is create and account and fill out one application.

I know a member of the Class of 2023 that spent her spring and summer applying for scholarships.  She was able to earn $10,000 (not including the money she earned at her job).  That is time well spent!

Remember, you'll never win one of these scholarships if you don't apply.
