Somerset Foodchella Will Make for a Tasty Mother’s Day Weekend
Somerset is ready to welcome you and your mom this Mother's Day weekend for the Foodchella open-air market.
Those who have experienced FoodChella know just how fun and delicious it is. This will make Foodchella No. 5 and organizers have really worked to make sure mothers are taken care of.
Allison Faunce, founder of SouthCoast Open Air Market and organizer for this event, shared some insight on vendor participation.
"We do have the most food trucks we have ever had at a Foodchella," she said. "In fact, we physically could not fit anymore and still have a hefty waitlist for the event."
The event is set for May 13, 3 to 9 p.m., at 100 Slades Ferry Avenue. That's six hours of stuffing your face so you'll want to come with an empty stomach. (You can probably catch me in the beer and wine garden most of the day.)
What else makes this year different?
"We have 11 curated artisans at this season's Foodchella event and they were selected on their 'Gifts for Mom' capability," Faunce said. "We have local jewelers, potters, a florist, candlemakers and body care artisans, so let mom shop and find a gift for herself."
Year after year, this event grows in vendors and attendance, so if you go it might be best to carpool and get there early.
Parking will be in the lot next to Grace Bible Church and Chick Marchand Memorial Park on the corner of Newhill Avenue and Riverside Avenue. Handicap spots are available on Slades Ferry Avenue.
