Historic Seekonk Tavern Celebrating 250 Years Since Paul Revere’s Ride
We will be hearing a lot about America’s 250th birthday over the next year or so. Planning has already begun for the milestone, especially here in New England, where so much colonial history unfolded.
There are many dates that can and should be noted in the lead-up to July 4, 2026, and one of them is coming up. Paul Revere’s ride is one of the most famous moments in the buildup to the American Revolution, and one restaurant in Seekonk is making sure it is honored appropriately.
The event will take place at The Old Grist Mill Tavern, which dates back to 1745 – more than 30 years before the start of the Revolutionary War. It is more likely than not that the property saw foot traffic from both Redcoats and Minutemen.

Paul Revere’s actual Midnight Ride took place on April 18-19, 1775, but the restaurant will be hosting an event on Tuesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m.. The night kicks off with dinner, followed by the tavern being transformed into a living history museum where guests will have the opportunity to converse one-on-one with Mrs. Paul Revere.
"I think telling the story through the lens of Revere’s wife is more magical because she will be able to share her pride for him and her emotions beyond just the facts of the ride," Old Grist Mill Tavern owner Karl Pelletier said. "She can bring much more depth to the story."

Pelletier said this is the first of many events to come as America begins celebrating 250 years of independence. Tickets are available at TheOldGristMill.com.
