SEEKONK (WBSM) — A pedestrian was struck and killed earlier today in Seekonk.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that the incident took place this morning on Interstate 195 westbound.

State Police Dispatched to Interstate 195

Massachusetts State Police were dispatched at about 11:15 a.m. to I-195 west near the Rhode Island state line after receiving 911 calls regarding a pedestrian who had entered the highway.

Police arrived and found a 53-year-old man had been struck by a motor vehicle after he had entered the highway. His identity was not released.

Witnesses Report Pedestrian in Roadway

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative with police. The D.A.’s Office said several other vehicles stopped and reported seeing the man in the roadway prior to him being struck.

Active Bristol County Investigation Ongoing

The investigation remains active and ongoing by state police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office and state police troopers.
