Seekonk’s Millstone Supper Club Offers Unique Dining Experience
Tucked beneath the floorboards of the Old Grist Mill Tavern in Seekonk, there’s a hidden dining experience that feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special.
Welcome to the Millstone Supper Club, a thoughtfully curated, multi-course experience brought to life by owner Karl Pelletier and his team. From the moment you walk down into the tavern's more intimate space, you realize this isn’t just dinner – it’s a culinary journey.
Admittedly, I went all in with the premium wine pairings for every course. If you’re going to do it, do it right, and the tone was set from the start. I was even given a key for the coat closet where my belongings were safely stored.
I was first greeted with a crisp Prosecco, garnished with a fresh slice of orange that added just the right touch of citrus brightness. Not long after, a warm chef’s board arrived with fresh bread and a creamy butter spread.
A Strong Start That Set the Tone
For my first course, I went with the diver scallop, and it did not disappoint.
The scallop was seared perfectly, tender with a delicate texture that melted with each bite. What stood out most was the subtle, buttery lemon-citrus finish from the mandarin beurre blanc (I was well-educated by the knowledgeable staff), which was fully absorbed into the fettuccine. It was light, balanced, and never overpowering. It was a great start to what was shaping up to be an exquisitely fine dining experience.
A Mid-Meal Reset Done Right
Before the main course, I was treated to a raspberry sorbet with a fresh shaving of lime.
It was bright, refreshing, and exactly what you want between courses. A true palate cleanser that reset everything before the main event.
The Main Event Delivers
For the entrée, I chose the chef’s special sea bass, paired with a premium white chardonnay.
The sea bass was light, fluffy, and incredibly refreshing. It didn’t try to do too much, and that’s what made it work so well. The chardonnay pairing elevated it even more, creating a smooth, delightful combination that brought everything together.
The risotto had a bit of main character energy, but in the end, it settled nicely into its role as a supporting act. Rich, savory, and honestly heavenly, but best enjoyed alongside the fish rather than competing with it.

Then there was the red pepper sauce, and I wanted more of it. Badly.
However, I was told that any more would’ve been too much. The portion was intentional and well-balanced. Still, that sauce was a standout.
Sweet Surprises Along the Way
Just when you think you’re heading straight into dessert, the kitchen throws in a little surprise your way: a cherry compote-based wafer.
Light, crisp, and sweet with just a touch of tartness, it was a fun and unexpected transition into the final course.
A Light, Balanced Finish
For dessert, I went with the mousse napoleon, paired with a ruby port.
The raspberry was subtle, not overly sweet, and paired beautifully with the vanilla bean. The texture was light and the flavors were clean. The port added a slightly spicy finish that rounded everything out in a really satisfying way.
Service That Elevated the Experience
A big part of what made the night work so well was the service from the waitstaff: Jess and Ryan.
Attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced, they guided the experience without ever being intrusive. Their understanding of both the menu and the wine pairings were admiringly impressive and didn’t go unnoticed.
Fine dining like this isn’t something you expect to find in Seekonk, or dare I say, tucked beneath a historic tavern, but that’s exactly what makes it special.
The Millstone Supper Club delivers a thoughtfully paced, flavor-driven experience where every course builds on the last. From the welcome sip to the final bite, it’s clear that every detail has been considered.
I could not recommended this culinary experience any more.
