FREETOWN — A manhunt is underway for a suspect in the woods along Route 140.

State Police at the Dartmouth barracks confirmed to WBSM News that there is a "search for a party," but could not give any more information at this time.

According to scanner reports, a suspect driving a stolen vehicle crashed it in the area of the Exit 9 offramp late this afternoon. Reports suggested the person was driving over 100 miles per hour on the highway, and Freetown Police deployed stop sticks in the area of Exit 9.

After crashing the vehicle, the suspect reportedly bailed out of the vehicle and ran into the woods along Route 140.

State Police, along with the Berkley, Lakeville and Freetown Police Departments, were searching for the suspect into the evening hours. The search included K9s and choppers from the State Police Air Wing division.

We will update this story when more information becomes available.
