The Salem Fire Department is going viral thanks to a TikTok video of one of its fire engines and its unusual siren sound.

Instead of the usual alert sound, this particular fire engine blasted a rendition of Darude’s "Sandstorm", the mega electronic hit released in 2000.

It’s hard to tell if the fire department is responding to an emergency or starting the most epic dance party in the center of town.

We needed to know if it was real, so we went to the source and called upon the fire department for some answers.

Last month, “Wickedsalemma” posted a video of Salem’s fire engine leaving the station in what appears to be a response call.

As the engine’s lights flash, a horn-inspired version of Sandstorm bellows from the fire truck.

“Salem Fire Department, love the new Siren..follow us back,” said the outlet.

The video has amassed over 5 million views in just one week.

The crowd of people filming the engine makes it even more believable, but is this really real?

“That was just dubbed in, somebody made that happen,” said Salem Fire Captain Thomas Tremblay. “I don’t know how they did that, but they dubbed that sound over the siren. We don’t have that, unfortunately.”

“We were wondering if it was maybe an option or setting,” said Michael.

“It would be cool, but unfortunately, I don’t even know who did that,” he said. “Fake news.”

It may be “fake news” but it made for a funny viral moment online, and now, we can’t get that song out of our heads.
