When it comes to seafood, the SouthCoast most definitely knows what it's doing.

The Port of New Bedford has been America's most valuable commercial fishing port since 2001, making it an integral part of the global seafood supply chain.

So with all that seafood coming in, it's no surprise a local spot landed as the 'Best Seafood' in Massachusetts on a recent list from review website, Yelp.

Massachusetts Best Seafood 2025

Yelp used searches and reviews to create their 2025 list of the Best Seafood in Every State and a very unique seafood spot in Salem topped all others in Massachusetts.

Yelp ranked Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall in Salem their best in the Bay State. Reviewers raved about the "rich and creamy" lobster bisque and called the East Coast oysters "incredibly fresh, briny, and just the right amount of sweet."

But diners get more than just incredible seafood from this restaurant.

Haunted History of Lyceum Hall in Salem, MA

Seems the spot their restaurant resides on was once an apple orchard owned by Bridget Bishop, the first woman killed during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.

Yes, Lyceum Hall was built over the former orchard nearly 150 years after the Witch Trials were over.

The Salem Lyceum Society purchased the land in 1831 and built Lyceum Hall to be a center for education and enlightenment.

Over the years influential figures such as Henry David Thoreau, Frederick Douglass,  and Ralph Waldo Emerson gave lectures at the hall. And Alexander Graham Bell even conducted his first public demonstration of the telephone there on February 12, 1877.
