Rhode Island Cat’s Viral Corned Beef Heist Hits 6 Million Views
Here's a story for all the cat people out there that'll have you in disbelief.
Rhode Island’s Katie Carreiro found herself at the center of an unexpectedly hilarious viral moment after her now-infamous feline pulled off what can only be described as the "Great Corned Beef Heist of 2026."
Within hours after posting, the internet ate it up just as quickly as the brisket disappeared.

You have to get a look at this video, which has racked up over six million views, showing the ultimate betrayal: a crockpot, left unattended, and a cat who clearly saw an opportunity and seized it.

Carreiro even watched the whole thing go down in real time.
From Salon Chair to Shocked Stare
She had stepped out to get her hair done, leaving her crockpot on at home. Like any modern pet owner who knows better, she angled her Google Hub toward the kitchen before leaving, just in case her curious cat got any ideas.
Spoiler alert: he did.
“I watched the entire thing happen live as I was in the salon chair,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it.”
By the time she got home, the damage was done. The brisket was completely gone and there were no leftovers or evidence. Carreiro also suspects her dog may have been an accomplice in the clean-up crew.
A Criminal With a History
If this feels like a one-time offense, think again.

“Ever since the day we adopted him as a kitten, he’s been a glutton for food,” Carreiro said. “He likes anything and everything.”
Carreiro was far from shocked.
Fame Hasn’t Changed Him, Yet
With millions of views rolling in, you might think this cat is letting the fame go to his head, but not quite.
“He’s a low-key kind of guy and doesn’t really like people,” Carreiro said.
While he hasn’t committed any additional crimes (yet), Carreiro has a feeling it’s only a matter of time.
“He’s probably planning it,” she said.
The Real Boss of the House
According to Carreiro, the battle of keeping the animals off the counter was lost a long time ago.
“Lots of the TikTok commenters say their cats would never go on their counters,” she said. “But my cats run the house.”
At this point, Carreiro isn’t setting the rules. She’s just living in their world.
