Providence Zoo’s Porcupine Wants to Meet You
A special animal encounter gives zoo visitors the opportunity get in touch with their wild side and spend time with their cute creatures.
On select Saturdays and Sundays through March, join the keepers at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence as you interact and learn about George, the prehensile-tailed porcupine.
The Porcupine Wild Connection is a unique way to get up close to the zoo's residents as you hear about the day-to-day care, training and a very important element: enrichment.
Animal enrichment is incorporated into many of the animals' routines at RWP Zoo. It provides them with stimulation to encourage development, social interaction and more. Keepers may use things like food, climbing structures, toys and other items to improve the animal's well-being.
George is an adorable porcupine who you may recognize from the zoo's social media. They post George with his sweet nose chomping on snacks and enjoying his habitat. Keepers will be able to answer questions throughout the encounter.

This isn't the first time Roger Williams Park Zoo has provided a chance for guests to meet their animals. Over the years, there have been many unique moments offered including elephant connection, giant otter connection, sloths, armadillos, tortoise, and their recently-sold out opportunity: red pandas.
The Wild Connection with George is a one-of-a-kind experience. It is not included with zoo admission and requires registration.
Guests can purchase tickets on the zoo's website. The sessions begin at 10:30 a.m.
You must be a minimum of five years old to participate. The area is also wheelchair accessible.
