SEEKONK — A Pawtucket man who died in a one vehicle crash in Seekonk last night has been identified as 36-year-old Richard Carlson of Pawtucket.

The Bristol County District Attorney's office stated that no one else was injured or involved in the crash, which took place just before 8 p.m. Monday.

Carlson was driving a Ford Explorer apparently at high speed when he lost control travelling north on Arcade Avenue near Scott Road, the D.A.'s office said.

His vehicle drove over several lawns, striking a large boulder and a tree.

The engine caught fire after the crash, but was quickly extinguished by first responders.

Police said officers had pulled Carlson away from the burning wreckage, but he was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details were released.
