We had a rare Thursday morning conversation with ABC 6 Sports Director Nick Coit today. The New England Patriots are down in Georgia for some Thursday Night Football, their first game in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Rookie of the Year, Mac Jones?

Hard to believe, but we started off our Patriots Preview conversation with a discussion about Mac Jones and whether or not he could be the NFL's Rookie of the Year. "Last week's game (against the Chargers), you point to it and say, 'this might be a game that's a the top of the resumé,"' Coit said.

"The way (Jones) ran the offense and the confidence that he did it with, the chemistry that he's built with Hunter Henry, Kendrick Bourne, and the other guys on the offense, it's really, really impressive. And he looks like he's having fun, too," he added.

Fun to Watch

Coit said we're seeing improvement from this team each and every week. They've learned how to win. They were in close games with these good teams earlier in the season, but they weren't able to close things out, but now they're starting to see what their potential can be.

Two Patriots Received Good News About Their Concussions

  • Patriots starting running back Damien Harris has cleared concussion protocol, and Coit said he may be available as soon as tonight.
  • Patriots punt returner Gunner Olszewski has also cleared concussion protocol. He also may be available to play as soon as tonight.

Coit: Patriots Will Win Again

Nick expects the Patriots to secure their fifth straight win to keep them right in the thick of the AFC playoff race.
