"No-Shave November" has arrived and what better way to bring it in then with a sit-down interview with New Bedford's very own "Beardfather!

I sat down with Joe Arruda and Nick Chandanais who are both part of the Beards of New Bedford Guild that started as an internet rumor in 2012, where online beard contests were held for fun.

Eventually, this led to the formation of the South Coast Beard & Mustache Guild in May 2013. The Men held their first competition, The Great Pumpkin Beer'd Fest, in October of that year at the Pour Farm Tavern.

Through their beard competitions, the bearded men have raised thousands for several local organizations and charities, including Mercy Meals & More, The Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County, and The Fall River Foster Parents Task Force.

Also, a special thanks to TL6 the Gallery in downtown for allowing us to film this interview in the shop! The gallery has sold local and regional art and handmade goods in New Bedford since 2008. It is owned and operated by Arianna Swink and Arruda's wife Jenny Liscombe-Newman, who also makes jewelry under the name of Tenacious Lilly.

Looking to grow a full beard or at least take care of yours like the Beardfather's? Check out his very own beard oil right there at TL6!
