One Of The Best Non-Camper Campsites is in Coventry Rhode Island
For some people, sleeping outdoors isn't all that appealing. Yet being out in nature is.
Luckily there are campsites for those folks and one of the best is closer than you think.
Just up I-95 in Coventry, Rhode Island, is Glamp Frogmore, a 35-acre glampsite with two swanky tents for rent this summer.
Glamp Frogmore was among eight glampsites across the country to be dubbed by TripAdvisor writers as one of the best outdoor getaways for non-campers. As a non-camper myself, I love this.
Honestly, hunkering down in a tent on the ground snuggled into a sleeping bag doesn't sound like a nice night away. But being surrounded by trees, sitting by a firepit and breathing fresh air certainly does.
For me, and so many others, glampsites have popped up around the world. Spots with fancy cabins, rustic yurts, even tricked-out airstreams are available to rent around the SouthCoast, but it was Glamp Frogmore that made TripAdvisor's list.
So what makes Glamp Frogmore so special?
I think it's the fact that you get the entire camping experience, but elevated.
Sure, you're sleeping in a tent, but that tent is sitting off the ground on a raised platform, filled with a queen-size bed plus couch, bureau and coffee table. Yes, you can roast marshmallows over an open fire, but your site comes with fresh water and a supply of firewood already. You are also using a composting toilet, but the outhouse has a real door and comes with a solar shower for hot water.
Glamp Frogmore also offers guests hiking trails, a next-door nature preserve, private pond for canoeing/kayaking and onsite games such as horseshoes.
It's a relaxing retreat in nature without sleeping on the cold, hard ground.
